A World Away and 10,000 Miles Apart

Here in Malaysia, there is great beauty and great contrast...

Meet Lanjun and Emah.  We went into the Kampung to visit 2 inactive families...  Lanjung and Emah:  Lanjun was showering as we came in, we could see the upper part of his body through a window-size opening as we entered.  He smiled and waved!  Later, he came out wrapped in his towel and shook hands!

Emah, his wife visited through the elders with us.  She would like to come to church, but she has a 1 year old.  They wear cloth diapers...  So how could she bring him?

We left them with our testimony and assurance of how much the Savior loves them.

On the way to our next visit, we said hello to these two children.

Next, we visited Ganya and Uyan.  I had visited her before.  I was struck by her beauty.  Notice how graceful even her hands are.  Wouldn't she make a great model?

They represent a typical Malaysian couple.  Married when she was about 14-15, he 24.

She loved this little kitty and stroked it affectionately.  Looking around, this is her only plaything or possession other than her children.

He soon begins work on a pipeline to Sabah and will be gone for months, she left here with 2 small boys.  Note the baby swing.  They are everywhere and very very ingenious.  The baby sleeps in the midst of the household.

Her other little boy... These visits quite wrench our heart strings...
