Bintulu is right on the equator, so the sun sets at almost the exact same time each day. It has only varied about 8-10 minutes from 6:30.
This is the huge river coming out of Borneo dumping into the Sea. It makes the water very brown because it carries silt and other deposits. Unfortunately, people walking the boardwalk also just toss their refuse into the sea.
Huge ships are waiting near the port of Bintulu to transport lumber and other goods in and out. At times, we have counted 16 ships waiting. Tug boats pull these ships closer to their destination up river.
This is a boardwalk area to get close to the sea. It has a huge bulwark of rocks that support it. It is not a place to walk in the water! However, fisherman are often fishing there. This is prawn season. We have seen huge prawns in the open meat market.
One of the most spectacular things about Bintulu are the clouds in the sky. They are magnificent. We constantly marvel at them. They are always different and always indescribable! The sky seems so huge here.
The clouds are absolutely unbelievable!
It is so hard to understand why people are totally unaware of their trash. They come to picnic here and just leave a terrible mess behind. They make no pretense of picking it up... Whenever we walk in this area, we are always picking up some of the things.
The lesson here in Bintulu, spiritually as well as physically, is: Keep your eyes lifted upward!
I have so enjoyed your blog...thanks for sharing your wonderful experiences with us.
